Pusser’s Rum Blue Label

Navy Rum

Tasting Pusser’s Rum Blue Label is like taking a sip of history. Close your eyes and think of England. Here’s a closer look at what you can expect from this iconic rum.

Tasting Notes

Nose: The first thing that hits you is the classic aroma of Demerara sugar and molasses, instantly transporting you to the deck of your ship in the blue, blue waters of the Caribbean. This sweetness is complemented by dried fruits and a hint of island spices, with a smooth undertone of caramel weaving it all together. It’s an inviting bouquet that sets the stage for a rich tasting experience.

Body: On the palate, Pusser’s Blue Label reveals its full, round body. It’s robust enough to stand up in cocktails yet smooth enough to enjoy neat. The balance of flavors makes it a versatile choice, offering depth without overwhelming the senses.

Finish: The finish is long and memorable, leaving a mild spicy burn that gently lingers. It’s a finish that invites reflection, encouraging you to savor each sip and the story it tells.

A Splash of History

Pusser’s Rum is blended using the traditional British Naval blend and carries a legacy that dates back over 300 years, rooted in the traditions of the British Royal Navy. After the British captured Jamaica in 1655, rum replaced brandy as the seafaring spirit of choice, which lead to the daily rum ration known as a “tot” of rum for sailors. This practice continued until July 31, 1970—known as “Black Tot Day”—when the tradition was officially, and very sadly, ended.

The name Pusser’s comes from the Purser, the ship’s officer responsible for dishing out the daily rum rum rations, often mispronounced as “Pusser” by the sailors.

Cocktail Suggestion: The Painkiller
