1888 Rum Negroni

A Negroni with a Spirited Twist
While the classic Negroni is most famously made with gin, it wasn’t always the mainstay. The Negroni cocktail is widely believed to have been created in 1919 in Florence, Italy. According to popular accounts, Count Camillo Negroni asked bartender Fosco Scarselli to strengthen his favorite cocktail, the Americano, by replacing the soda water with gin. Scarselli complied, adding an orange garnish instead of the typical lemon, resulting in the now-classic Negroni.

Subbing in Brugal 1888 for gin pays homage to this tradition of reinvention, creating a richer, warmer variation that highlights the Negroni’s adaptable and timeless appeal.

Bonus Brugal Trivia
Brugal is one of the few rum distilleries in the world that controls the entire production process—from sugarcane harvesting to bottling—ensuring unparalleled quality. What’s more, their Master Distillers, or Maestros Roneros, are all direct descendants of the Brugal family, safeguarding over 135 years of rum-making expertise. It’s a legacy that’s as meticulously crafted as the rum itself.
